Glendonite:

" The meaning of this stones name specifically relates to the location where it was first discovered at Glendon in NSW Australia.Although it is known as a rare mineral, it has since been found in Siberia in Russia, Antarctica, South Africa, in the Congo, Greenland, British Columbia in Canada and in California in the United States. "

Glendonite, (which is a dehydrated version of Ikaite) is an unusual and distinctive form of calcite. Glendonite belongs to a class of pseudomorphs which is a mineral that has taken the characteristic crystal shape of another mineral by a processes called recrystallization. Glendonites are pseudomorphs after the mineral ikaite.

Ikaite is typically found in near-freezing water in deep ocean locations. When Ikaite is removed from its natural water that is cool, it rapidly disintegrates into anhydrous calcium carbonate. This effect is what morphs Ikaite to become Glendonite, and has earned it the nickname “the melting mineral”.

Glendonite is believed to be a stone of learning, discovery, and understanding. It stimulates the third eye, crown, and soul star chakra (above the head), as well as helping to increase one's psychic abilities and inner visions. Glendonite is known to assist in healing broken bones. It is also great to use as a preventative of breakage, by strengthening both bones and teeth.

Their shape is uniquely fun and look like spiky clusters. Large sizes consist of two conjoined cluster buddies.
